This Winter and Spring Fox Chicago has been busy working with the National Weather Service, local emergency managers, storm spotters and weather enthusiasts to prepare for severe weather in Chicago. Along with our Fox Chicago Weather Education Days (http://www.myfoxchicago.com/subindex/weather/weather_ed) we also work in tandem with local communities and agencies to make sure we are all prepared for dangerous storms that could affect Chicago.

Chief Meteorologist Amy Freeze was a featured speaker at the¬†2010 Plainfield Emergency Managers Agency’s (http://www.plainfieldema.org/)¬† Weather Spotter Seminar.¬† The day was dedicated to¬†Recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the 1990 Plainfield Tornado.¬† About 400 weather¬†spotters¬†attended on February 20th¬†at the¬†Plainfield East High School Auditorium.¬†¬†PEMA and other emergency managers as well as Jim Allsopp from the NWS (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lot/)¬† and Paul Sirvatka (http://weather.cod.edu/~sirvatka/) from the College of DuPage (http://weather.cod.edu/)¬†attended.¬†Many people¬† donated their¬†time and efforts in the name of public safety! Thank you to¬†Captain Roger Bonuchi and his team for their hard work.
